Episode 4: Secrets of the Module

Spurred on by a question from one of our fans, the 2 GMs decided to tackle the the issue of running a game from a module. Originally, we were going to discuss what to do when the players derail a module so completely that you’re stymied. However, we move around a little in the conversation and talk about module use in general.

What’s you favorite module? Let us know by sending us an email; or perhaps on our Forums? You could also like us on like us on Facebook or twwet us on Twitter!

We are almost finished with Vampire: the Requiem. It’s going very well! 7th Sea is about to boil over with swashbuckling craziness. Gaming is good right now.

Announcements

We are working on the studio constantly, and just can[t seem to balance comfort with sound quality.

Coffee Break of the Damned is misnamed “Coffee Break of The Living Dead” by Joe.

Joe couldn’t find the “Fantasy Fucking Vietnam” essay in Spears of the Dawn…but here’s a link to a good thread on the topic.

The Golden Head of Korlak ur Nagath is in the 7th Sea module trilogy “Mightier than the Sword.”

Shoutouts!

Picture from Dan! Expect your $10 DrivethruRPG certificate in the emails.

Ben! We’re both looking forward to your GM training thing!

Bad Religion is awesome…in Joe’s opinion anyway.

  • In SuperFanJoe’s defense, I did forget to leave out the fact that he ran this module 6 or 7 years ago when we first started gaming together.

Also, managed to find the name of that module finally. “Whispers of the Vampire’s Blade”

  • Just thought I should tell you guys, there aren’t any supplements out for Mummy the Curse yet; the first, Guildhalls of the Deathless, is due to hit in June. I’d guess you were thinking of something from Mummy the Resurrection?

  • Do you have any tips for someone aspiring to turn a campaign into a publishable module? I remember you’ve talked a bit about Castles and Crusades’ and Savage World’s licenses but that’s about it. Whether you have your own advice to give or can point out a some good resources would be awesome.

  • The best advice I can give is to write it up as a module in your preferred system. Just write it all down: maps, NPCs, encounters, everything. Then show it to whomever you want to publish it. They are much more likely to publish a piece that’s ready for formatting. When it comes to self publishing, you just have to work a deal with the owner of the system. It’s pretty easy if it’s C&C or SW. Those folks are easy to deal with.
