  • I’d love to hear your opinions in the future on two of my favourite games. Eclipse Phase, and Anima: Beyond Fantasy.
Two entirely different games (one is sci-fi transhumanist exploration/horror, the other a fantasy world with over-the-top anime-esque power-levels), but both sharing the trait of having really rich setting details, and interesting premises.

I think you might like Anima for the abilities/competence the characters have, the richness of the setting (serious, plot-hooks were jumping out at me pretty much every paragraph), and the fact that the various power-types in the game (Magic, Psychic, Ki, Summoning) all use different subsystems in order to have their own unique feel.
Eclipse Phase meanwhile, embraces transhumanism, memetics, and variant ways that humanity may diverge from one another. The writing is fantastic, as is the art and layout. Also, it’s free under Creative Commons, with official torrents and download links created by the company. This attitude largely mirrors that held by those that dwell in the Outer Solar System in Eclipse Phase, which I thought was very cool indeed.
